What Is Delta-10 THC
With advances in cannabis research moving faster than ever, it’s sometimes hard to keep up with the various compounds offered by the plant. We all know delta-9 THC, and the recently isolated delta-8 THC has risen in popularity in the last couple of years, a compound similar to the THC we know and love but for less potent.
Delta-10 THC is another such cannabinoid found in trace amounts in cannabis. It can get you high like regular delta-9 THC, but it is far less potent than its counterpart and not yet regulated by federal oversight. So is it safe for consumption?
Does delta 10 THC get you high?
Yes. Since delta 10 is a form of THC, it has the potential to get you high. A delta 10 high is said to be less intense than delta 9 and delta 8. It’s also said to be more of a head buzz than a full body high. Delta 10 THC tends to have a weaker affinity for binding to the CB1 receptors, resulting in milder effects. According to some users, the effects of delta 10 are more akin to a sativa high versus an indica one, typically with less paranoia and anxiety.
Sativa strains provide effects that tend to be more uplifting and cerebral, making them better suited for daytime application. Especially compared to delta 8 gummies which tend to provide more of the sedative and couch-locking effects associated with indica strains.
How Delta-10 THC Affects the Body
Little research has been conducted on how delta-10 THC interacts with the body so far. The compound likely engages with the endocannabinoid system (ECS) in the same pathway as other THC isomers, binding to CB1 receptors in the brain and central nervous system and some CB2 receptors in the body.
Health Benefits and Uses
We lack the same amount of research supporting the health benefits of other cannabinoids for delta-10 THC, but early anecdotal evidence is promising.
Delta-10 THC reportedly produces an uplifting and relaxing effect free from intense euphoria and paranoia that other THC compounds can have. It’s milder and may be more beneficial for mitigating stress, lifting low moods, and boosting energy than its delta-8 THC counterpart.
Delta-10 THC produces relaxation and doesn’t feature the same anxiety or paranoia as its delta-9 THC counterpart, making it a good choice for soothing anxiety without being sedating.
